Social media is, well, social. Interaction is part of the experience and expectation. If this is your first blog or foray into the scene, you are probably going to be doing a lot more of the work than those individuals or companies that have an established presence. And by presence I mean “voice” – what they bring to the table as evaluated and valued by the people they interact with.
Last week on The Office, corporate weenie Ryan visited the Scranton branch and told them that they needed to make up extra sales that their website should have brought in. He had been fervently pushing the website onto the staff, telling them that version 2.0 of the site will be even bigger and better, and that embracing new technology like online sales will skyrocket paper purchases and make their jobs easier. Unfortunately, the staff had been deeply rooted in the “old school” method of providing a great customer service experience and developing a relationship with the customer.
